Dr. Ebru Bish

I am a Professor of Operations Management in the Department  of  Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science at the Culverhouse College of Business.

My research interests include the following applications and methodologies:

• Applications: Public health policy, Healthcare management science, Healthcare analytics, Supply chain management.
• Methodologies: Stochastic modeling, Robust and Data-driven Optimization, Probability Theory, Data Analytics.

​My research has been recognized by the INFORMS Pierskalla Award for the Best Paper in Healthcare, INFORMS JFIG Best Paper Award, IIE Transactions Best Applications Paper Award, and my PhD advisees have received several awards for their dissertation work, including the INFORMS Seth Bonder Scholarship in Applied Operations Research in Health Services, IISE Pritsker Doctoral Dissertation Award, INFORMS Health Applications Society Student Paper Award, among others.

I am a lifelong classical guitarist, and a student of music and yoga.

• My research team has been awarded a new grant from the National Institutes of Health for our work on "Optimal Newborn Screening Algorithms - Efficacy and Equity." 
• Recent paper, "Disease bundling or specimen bundling? Cost- and capacity-efficient strategies for multidisease testing with genetic assays" (published in M&SOM) is a finalist for the 2024 INFORMS Pierskalla Award!
• Recent paper, "Improving the equity and efficiency of cystic fibrosis screening" is a finalist for the 2024 INFORMS PSOR Best Paper Award!
• Recent paper, "Novel pooling strategies for genetic testing, with application to newborn screening," is published in​​ Management Science.
• Recent paper, "Optimal genetic screening for cystic fibrosis," is published  in Operations Research.
• ​I am currently working on Telemann's beautiful Italian Air for flute and guitar, with an amazing flutist, Dr. Jane Weigel of UA.
